Well, work today was...dead. I mean, it was so dead there were maggots crawling around. So basically, I spent my hours today getting paid to read the Women's Center's back issues of Bitch and Bust. :D
(For the record, I like Bitch better, though I certainly don't agree with all of the arguments in it. Bend It Like Beckham sexist? Please. But now I wanna read the slash issue (which there were letters for in the issue I read)! I didn't much like Bust - it sort of reminded me of an indie, feminist, lesbian-friendly version of Cosmo. If I want to see all the newest products, I'll go to a store. In a magazine, I want articles that go beyond debating the pluses and minuses of X new product. I don't like paying for ads, no matter how cool and trendy the products are.)
Anyway, the week is now over and the three-day weekend has begun...WOOHOO! v^_^v
Some links of varying interest:
- PLEASE tell me this is not this guy's real name, especially given his field of study. x_x
- This is what I hope my grad school experience is like. (Pshh, yeah, right.) Note that this is a series...keep clicking "next" to see the rest.
- "Okay, nobody but me's allowed to touch Frodo that way!"

Heh heh...I like Laguna. He's such a dork. XD
And for the female side:

Which Final Fantasy (IV-X) Character are you?

I dunno, I always liked Raine. She gives Laguna so much shit. XD
Though...isn't it sort of odd that I ended up as both halves of a relationship? O_o

Date: 2004-01-17 09:39 am (UTC)It'd be like complaining that a black American girl who wanted to play basketball was looking to Michael Jordan for inspiration rather than one of the WNBA stars. I mean, sure, the WNBA are good role models, but if you're shooting for the top you want the most famous and skilled person - regardless of sex - as your role model. Which doesn't mean you can't have role models of the same sex, but they probably won't be your primary goal.
And then, of course, the author also apparently missed the point that Jess DIDN'T have to choose between football and family, because her family DID come around in the end when they realized how important it was to her. x_x
