From zerochan, the Square Enix teaser site for a certain game. HOLY CRAP, DO WANT. I suppose the question is, will it be a remake of the first game, or a new entry in the series? (I'm inclined towards the former, just because the clock ticking noise is exactly the same sound effect from the original game. Still, it would be worth it to have all the bonuses of the PSX version, and more, without the crappy-ass PSX load times.)

Either way, it had better eventually come out over here in the US, and ideally sooner rather than later!

It's the same piece that's on the OST. I suspect it's a remake. Which would be just dandy with me, so long as they ditch the bad 90's translation and give us a new one.

Apparently it's just an enhanced remake, the graphics are still sprite-based and all. A few really shitty Jump scans are circulating on the web now for it.

Disappointing, since a full remake would make a lot of fans happy, but a quasi-port is cheaper and will, most likely, sell just as many copies. Money >>>> effort. Le sigh :\

By the by, are you up for Comiket proxy buying next month?

I'm not sure. I mean, they remade FFIV top to bottom, and will likely do the same with V and VI. Why wouldn't they do the same for this title? By the way. Do you have any links to these scans, by chance?

Well, FFIV is considerably older than CT, so that might have something to do with it...CT's graphics haven't dated quite as badly. Also the Chrono audience is considerably smaller than the FF audience, given that there's only been two Chrono games and it seems like most people who played Chrono Cross (except for me) weren't a huge fan of it, whereas zillions of folks have played the FF games and so there's a larger audience.

(Or, more cynically, they have to do a full remake of the FF games because they've already rereleased them twice over with minimal extras, on PSX and GBA, and they figure they need something more to get folks to triple-dip; whereas CT was only rereleased once, on PSX, so they can get away with releasing an enhanced port once more before they have to fully remake it on the third try, as with the FF games.)

Yeah, a full remake would be sweet...still, it's Chrono Trigger, so I imagine I'll be buying it. (Damn you, Squeenix, and your propensity to make me double- and triple- and quadruple-dip with your infernal remakes of awesome games!)

Also I don't think I'll be getting anything from Comiket this year; I'm probably going to be pretty poor until the fall semester rolls around and I start getting paid again (at the beginning of September), and I'm also moving at the end of this month and need to save my cash for that. Thanks for the offer, though, and I imagine I will take you up on it next year!
