gogmagog: The Fourth Doctor from Doctor Who (ACK THE SUN)

I'm beginning to think my apartment might be haunted again, and in a less friendly way than I thought when I moved in...here's hoping in the light of day it will all seem like a silly thing to even consider.

I've kind of been having weird glimpses of movement in the mirrors in my apartment from time to time over the past few weeks, and that vague itch you get in your back when you feel you're being watched; both are kinda unsettling but I put them down to being on a big Merrily Watkins/Harry Dresden novels kick (both series which revolve around ghosties and ghoulies and things that go bump in the night).

Still, waking up about twenty minutes ago from a nightmare and coming in to the kitchen go get a glass of chocolate milk, when I tried to turn on my living room overhead light it burned out with a loud pop the second I flipped the switch - and I just replaced it last week. Exasperated but not really that freaked out, I looked over and saw the reflection of the caps lock light on my keyboard on a piece of paper on my bulletin board forming a really quite unfriendly glowy monstrous face-looking pattern, which was very unsettling. I may have uttered a rather unmanly squeak, and I guarantee you I have never moved as fast as I moved to turn on every lamp in my living room after that happened.

(For the record, said caps lock key is now off and said paper is now removed from my bulletin board and torn into itty-bitty pieces and scattered in the trash.)

So here's hoping this is all just my overactive imagination (I DO have one, I know), and that this stuff doesn't continue. Otherwise I'm gonna be looking for a Merrily Watkins of my own. (Or do an exorcism myself; I should be able to, since my grandma Jenny once exorcised a house my parents were living in and having serious paranormal problems with years before they had me, so it should theoretically run in the family I guess?)

But let's just say at the moment, I'm finally feeling creeped-out enough about it at the moment that I'm actually singing every scrap of hymn I can remember from my Catholic-school upbringing under my breath (which means basically I'm singing "His Eye is on the Sparrow" and the first verse of "On Eagle's Wings" over and over), and I don't think I'll be turning any of my lights off or going to bed anytime soon. :(

!!! Paranormal powers run in your family?

Interesting, a great-grandfather of mine was said to have supernatural powers and served as a sort of lay priest-shaman.

Paranormal powers are ALL OVER my family tree a few generations back. My grandma Jenny (who was my dad's mother), my dad's paternal grandfather who was a curandero, my mom's paternal grandmother who supposedly had some sort of psychic power...even my mom does scarily accurate tarot card readings. (I think I'm forgetting one or two in there as well.)

That's why it's so frustrating that I appear to be as psychic as a rock most of the time. :(

Do Yankee Candles count? XD

Also if a hole opens up in my bathroom, or a creepy little kid offers me a doll, I'm GETTING THE FUCK OUT OF DODGE. (Also any random umbilical cords I find lying around are total dealbreakers too.)

Well, a quick Gamefaqs search tells me you could also consider hiring a lingerie selling fortune teller and Ozzy Osbourne to try and contact the spirits together. It'll make them interested and happy.

Hmmm, don't have Ozzy Osbourne...will a policeman-slash-patissier and his monkeyspank of a younger brother do? I hear flamenco dancing works wonders!

According to highly reliable data (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/257396/34308), that would piss off a phantom.

Hey there, I apologize for the intrusion, but I see that you've listed Radiata Stories as one of your interests. The game isn't so well known, so it's difficult to find other fans, but a community for discussion and fanwork was just created. If you're interested, the community is called [livejournal.com profile] theatre_vancoor. Again, I apologize if this comment is at all intrusive.

No, that's fine! That actually looks like a fun community, and I've joined. Thanks for letting me know! :D

(Actually, I've really been wanting to replay RS for a while now...I beat it on the human path, but I still need to play through the fairy path. Maybe this summer I'll do that.)

Okay, so are you haunted or not?? When I first read this, I thought you said that you went into the kitchen and there was already a glass of chocolate milk sitting there and I was all "HOLY HELL! You ARE haunted! At least they seem nice and want to give you chocolate milk?"

I dunno! I'm still getting the heebie-jeebies from time to time and having that weird "being watched" feeling, especially at night, but during the day it's fine, and so far I haven't had any other major problems (aside from having trouble getting to sleep, for obvious reasons...also I've been leaving at least one light on in my living room, and a nightlight in my bedroom, burning electricity with rampant abandon. :(

I've always been comforted by the fact that I'm so blind that if I'm going to be killed in the night, at least I won't know it beforehand. Of course, being blind can also be bad because then you see stuff and don't know if it is really there or not. Maybe tape your glasses to your head?
