Just finished New Who S3. My impressions:

- O HAI THAR TINKERBELL JESUS

- Really, I thought it was a quite strong season overall (clapping to save Dobby!Doctor aside). And I really liked Martha; between her total awesomeosity and her sort of by example making me realize some negative things about Rose I hadn't really thought about that much, I'd say they're now on an equal footing in my mind. (If Martha had stayed for more than one season I think she could've edged past Rose, even. We'll see what happens next season when Donna, Martha AND Rose all show up on the TARDIS.)

- Standout of the season, though, was "Blink," as so many people have said. After watching that episode I went around my apartment turning any figurines with eyes so that they faced each other. >_>

- Did I mention Martha was awesome? Because really, she was way more useful than any other New Who companion to date, including Action Man Captain Jack (whose return was much-appreciated, by the way). She also didn't have that "oh, let's run around poking our nose into things when the Doctor EXPLICITLY TOLD US TO STAY PUT" that both Rose and Mickey had. Also, DUDE SHE SAVED THE WORLD, WITH THE POWER OF HER WORDS, SHE'S TOTALLY JOINED XANDER'S YELLOW CRAYON CLUB

- On the other hand, while I liked Martha's family, Tish and Francine (and the rather fade-into-the-background dad and li'l bro) didn't hold a candle to Jackie and Mickey. Seriously, I hope desperately that Rose's return means we'll see Jackie and Mickey again (I've heard rumors that Mickey's actor is returning, but no news about Jackie's).

- John Simm as the Master TOTALLY HAD THE GAYEST THING EVAR with David Tennant at the end there. (And that's saying something on a show with Captain Jack.) Seriously, DYING IN YOUR ARMS, GUESS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ME AFTER ALL, *emo tears*, etc.

- JACK AS THE FACE OF BOE WHOOZAWATZIT, I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT (EVEN THOUGH IT'S KIND OF HILARIOUS AND AWESOME AND OH MY GOD MPREG)

- Yet another way in which Martha was awesome...she totally handled her crush on the Doctor maturely, even when he didn't treat her all that well for it (see: "John Smith"). And that ending, basically telling him she's gonna get over her crush on him but giving him her phone and telling him he'd BETTER come when she calls...AWESOME. ILU MARTHA

...man, I wish I was going to be able to download the Christmas special after it airs! Unfortunately, I'll be at home, so I won't get a chance to see David Tennant and Kylie Minogue on the Space Titanic until I get back to the IC in early January. ;_;

- David Tennant plays...the Doctor's companion? From Tennant's guest-hosting stint on The Friday Night Project (the entire thing is actually pretty hilarious, do a YouTube search and you'll find it; they ask him about his naked pictures and about his "David Ten-Inch" nickname, and make jokes about him losing his virginity to Tom Baker and it's just awesome). As for this specific clip, as jokersama has said, the scariest thing is that Tennant knows the way in which women cross their legs to make them look better in heels. XD
- From Dead Ringers, which always does quality Who stuff, Tony Blair...regenerates?
- Also from Dead Ringers, Christmas with the Doctors. "Oh now, that's bang out of order...you know all his villains were made out of tinfoil!"
- From DR again, the Fourth Doctor goes TARDIS shopping. Including a Cyberman pillowfight! XD
- Also from DR, their Torchwood parody. I have yet to watch TW but I hear it can at times be dire? D:
- And finally, John Barrowman on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. (Links to subsequent parts are in the sidebar.) Seriously, A LEGENDARY EPISODE, second only perhaps to Amy Winehouse's hilariously drugged-up appearance on the show. (Also I kind of love Simon Amstell. His gay-off with Barrowman is hilarious. But if you want real laughs, wait for the bit where Barrowman combines The Sound of Music and dildos for the lulz. XD)

Joseph - So I am just getting caught up on everyone's blogs now that things are winding down here, and I can't help but feel REALLY dumb every time I try to read your blog. There's like abbreviations and references to things I don't understand. It's not that I am going to stop reading it, but I want to know how to be let in! How, Joseph, how???

Haha, sorry, Jill! I am too immersed in Internet dork subculture, I always forget that I have normal people reading my blog too. It's not that you're dumb, it's that I'm geeky! XD

But, uh, explanations of the weird abbreviations in this one:

"ILU" or "ilu" = "I love you" (but in a more fannish way than anything)
"mpreg" = male pregnancy
"for the lulz" = Internet equivalent of "for shits and giggles"
orz = emoticon for someone on their hands and knees in a kind of defeated pose (I didn't use it in this entry but I do use it a lot)
roffle = slightly ironic use of ROFL as a verb, which = "rolling on the floor laughing"

Also this entry will probably be especially incomprehensible because it's all about Doctor Who and so uses all kinds of show-specific lingo like TARDIS and regeneration and such.

But usually if you find an abbreviation you don't understand, you can look it up on urbandictionary and it'll steer you right! As far as content goes, it's a little tougher - often I'm posting about sci-fi series or somesuch, so you may be lost if you haven't seen the series/played the videogame/etc. - but persevere, because sometimes I do post stuff whose comprehensibility is not limited to a small group of people who have watched/played what I'm writing about. XD
