Welp, another quick-and-dirty update. D:
I've had no chance to play the Wii since I brought it home, since my mom said that I have to have at least the floor of my room clear before she'll let me hook it up. (Which is eminently fair, but still I WANNA PLAY WII NOWWWWW.) Fortunately, with the A/C from
rathershady and
courters28, finishing up my room should be a lot easier, since it is now no longer 100+ degrees at 10 in the morning in there. Also in Wii-related news, I spent the Best Buy giftcards I got from my siblings for my birthday on Super Paper Mario (and on Guitar Hero Encore Rocks the '80s for PS2 *throws up the horns*).
Let's see, other stuff that's new? Well, I watched the Dixie Chicks documentary, Shut Up and Sing, with my parents, and it was quite good. I also discovered while watching it that the Dixie Chick who caused all the brouhaha - Natalie Maines - happens to be married to Adrian Pasdar (aka Nathan Petrelli from Heroes). Damn you, Dixie Chick, now neither
jokersama nor I can marry Smarmy Petrelli ourselves! (At least since he's married to her now I'm 99.9% certain that he's super-liberal, which makes me happy.)
In less fun news, after spending quite a bit of time and money on fixing up my old laptop for my mom so that she could work outside the house in this stifling heat (like at a coffeeshop with good A/C), its monitor suddenly died a couple of days ago, rendering it essentially an expensive paperweight; it's still usable if you hook it up to a monitor, but that sort of defeats the point of having a laptop (most people aren't willing to carry a large cathode-ray tube monitor around with them, I can't imagine why). D:
Also, I made my famous chocolate cake with chocolate ganache (which is actually originally
eikitty's chocolate cake with chocolate ganache) for my mom's Latino Writers Collective meeting, and everyone loved it. I also seem to be in charge of their website...how did that happen?
Also, this may quite possibly be the most awesomest awesomeness in the history of awesome. I was going to try to drag my Mom, who is a Buffy fan (though not as much of a Whedonfreak as I am), but she was turned off because of the Rocky Horror-ness of it all. Me, there is NO WAY I am missing the Buffy musical on the big screen...I've seen it probably close to 50 times (sadly, that's not a joke or hyperbole), but still the thought of seeing it again on a big screen makes me slaver at the mouth like Angelus confronted with a nun. But I guess I'll have to go it alone, since I don't know any other Buffy fans (at least here in KC) crazy enough to do such a thing. ;_;
But, but, there's going to be "Buffy-oke!" And Buffy trivia! How can anyone turn that down? ;_;
For the few KC Whedon fans I do know, in addition to this the Screenland is also showing Serenity on the big screen next month. Goddammit, why does all the good stuff start happening after I leave KC? ;_;
Also, I command all of you to do these psychokinesis experiments. Sadly, despite a genealogical lineage that means I should be as psychic as Shiloh Jolie-Pitt will be freakishly gorgeous*, I think I may have the psychic abilities of a jelly donut (that is, not much at all). D:
Anyway, time for me to sign off...I'm going to lunch with
rathershady and
courters28 tomorrow, and hopefully I'll also manage to get my room clean enough to bust out the Wii. :D
* = Seriously, on the maternal and paternal side, respectively, of my dad's family I have a curandera grandmother and a curandero great-grandfather; my mom's paternal grandmother and great-aunt (twins) were conjure women of some sort, from what I hear; and my mom is a complete whiz with Tarot cards. Yet I've never shown the slightest bit of paranormal abilities, weo.
Edit: Holy shit, from
jokersama: Fox News takes on /b/ tards. Lulz indeed. (I especially love the voice filter...they're taking what is clearly an innocuous-sounding twenty-something nerd and giving him a voice somewhere between Voldemort and Vader. XD)
