Gotta run to campus to print off my readings for today (stupid PDFs, eating up all my ink at home), but I finally watched the Heroes season finale this morning.
- Oh man, all the older generation stuff was A++++++++++++++. Papa Nakamura, Mama Petrelli, Papa Shaft...all awesome. (Though that was an interesting non-explanation for why Daddy Shaft could see Present!Peter.) And seriously, Claire needed to punch Grandma right in the kisser.
- Yay, Ando survived! After all, Ando couldn't die...he's Hiro's princess, his heart! (Note that these gay-sounding metaphors did not originate with me but were in fact USED IN THE SHOW ITSELF last week, wtf.) Manpanionship FTW! Still, I'm sad it sounds like Ando won't be accompanying Hiro on his adventures any more. D:
- Man, Candace never stops being an evil bitch. I'm so glad Niki kicked her ass. (We saw blood seeping from her nose, but is she dead? WHO KNOWS.) But, er, is Jessica gone now? That's what it seems like, and Niki seems to be in control of her powers now.
- Hmmm, who is the greater evil Molly was talking about? Clearly a new villain, but is it someone new or someone we already know? (After all, we don't know Mama Petrelli's or Papa Nakamura's powers, assuming they have them.)
- Claire-bear is kind of awesome. Appealing to Nathan's brother-complex, diving through the window, looking all secret-agent badass in her black suit-outfit when she prepares to shoot Peter, etc. And since her pep talk to Nathan was what convinced him to do what he did, in a roundabout way saving the cheerleader DID save the world. (Or at least New York City.)
- NOAH BENNET, WTF. Well, they told us it was biblical! Though I wonder whether they picked that name before casting Noah Gray-Cabey as Micah. Also, it now gives me strange visiions of Bennet-tan supervising a hero-breeding program (two by two and all that).
- I was pleased when Mohinder and Molly ran into D.L., Niki and Micah. Though now I wonder whether Micah and Molly will make a puppy love connection, heh.
- Niki kind of rocked this episode too. Both kicking that EVIL BITCH Candace's ass, and smacking Sylar around with a parking meter. Also, she saved Peter...a nod to the possible future where they ended up together?
- Hiro stabbed Sylar, oh snap! And while I thought it was cute that he said "yatta," for a second there I thought he said "muda" and was all OH MY GOD HIRO YOU CAN'T HAVE BEEN SO DORKY AT SUCH A CRUCIAL MOMENT. But it turned out he wasn't. XD
- What flashed through Sylar's eyes post-stabbing? The only thing I recognized was Claire's head being bisected, I assume from "Five Years Gone"; did he "remember" the bad future, or is this new stuff for next season?
- I totally called Smarmy Petrelli's actions in this ep, though...I've been thinking he'd do that for five or six eps now. ;_; And goddammit, but why didn't they just let Claire shoot Peter? It's not like he wouldn't regenerate, and that way Smarmy Petrelli would still be okay. ;_;
- On the plus side, we got some quality Petrellicest time...the "I love you"s were pretty tame, and would just seem siblingly if they HADN'T SPENT THE LAST 22 EPISODES TOUCHING EACH OTHER CONSTANTLY.
- Nothing got me teary-eyed until Molly went up to Parkman on the stretcher and told him he's her hero...DAMN YOU, NONEXISTENT OVARIES!!!1!
- Awww, Claire and Bennet-tan are together again. ...It's funny, at the beginning I couldn't tell, because of Papa Bennet's strange actions, whether he loved her as a daughter or whether there was a weird pedo vibe going on. Now I'm firmly in the "dad-daughter" camp. But still, it's funny that before I was worried it was a creepy incestuous relationship, and now IT'S ONE OF THE FEW FAMILIAL RELATIONSHIPS THAT ISN'T. XD (Seriously, Nathan and his mom are totally Manchurian Candidate, the Petrelli brothers and Peter/Claire are highly questionable, and Sylar and his mother...well, I believe we've said enough about that.)
- Yay, cockroach! MAI LOLI will live to eet brains another day! (Which I kind of already knew, since I'd heard he was coming back for next season.)
- And now the 3 minutes that serve as the beginning of season 2...entitled "Volume 2: Generations." Oh yeah, you know this'll be all about the oldies.
- ...oh man, Hiro, you are mai wacky time-travelling loli. And WHAT, "daipinchi" should not be translated as "random string of symbols representing profanity"!
- Oh, so part 2 begins with another eclipse? Also wuzzat some Sulu behind that mask? :D
Anyway, as expected, it was an AWESOME finale and I'm glad they're doing the Heroes: Origins stuff and more graphic novels over the summer so that I will be able to get my fix.
