Wow, I can tell I've hit finals paper-writing time, because since I'm at the computer pretty much 24/7 I'm making like 3 gazillion LJ posts a day.

I've been trying to eat healthy for the past week and a half or so, and have actually been doing a pretty good job, all things considered. Today is a lost cause, though, I think, given that my response to the stress of paperwriting is "GOM GOM MUST EAT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT." In semi-related news, I totally found E.L. Fudge cookies today...I remember them well from childhood, but I didn't think they even made them anymore! :9

We are completely the same person. I'll be thinking, "You know, I should grade/write/whatever, but instead I'll write a livejournal entry and eat ice cream!" *Holds head in hands*

Haha, that makes me feel better...part of the reason I have been feeling motivated to eat healthier (both to lose weight and to have better nutrition/more energy) was reading your LJ and some of the recipes and stuff you've linked, which made me realize that it is possibly possible for me to eat stuff I like and still have a semi-healthy diet.

So my main thought was "oh no, I was doing decently for a while and now I'm backsliding horribly"; it's nice to know that even my healthy-eating inspiration has that problem sometimes! (I mean, I know you've posted about your own backslides, but somehow they seem positively virtuous compared to my backslide over the past 24 hours.)

It's all my Rhetoric class' fault not eating all the snacks I brought for them! I don't care if there were only like 12 people there on the last day, they needed to do their part so I didn't end up eating cookies and Doritos all weekend. D:

Courtney raised an interesting question; how do you eat healthy when you can't eat fruits or vegetables?

Well, it's not that easy; fresh fruits and veggies are mostly out, but I can eat some, like asparagus, and I can have most canned fruits (though I still shouldn't eat really gut-churning ones like pineapple, even canned). Also I'm generally supposed to avoid stuff with a whole lot of fiber or that's hard to digest in some other way.

But that still does leave quite a lot of healthy things I can eat (at least healthier than pizza, fried chicken strips, and junk food, which is what I've been eating mostly over the past year or so). The easiest meal for me to make healthy was breakfast, which basically involves a can of fruit and/or a bowl of whole-grain cereal, but I've been slowly discovering semi-healthy options for other meals as well.

And honestly, I cheat sometimes on my gut diet anyway - I technically shouldn't have pepperoni, and I DEFINITELY shouldn't have corn or popcorn, but I eat those sometimes anyway. (In fact, I eat pepperoni pretty regularly, heh.) So I guess I realized that if I can make exceptions for unhealthy foods, I should make exceptions for healthy foods as well, and I don't mind doing so for the occasional can of pineapple or healthy high-fiber cereal.

Wow, that sounds like it would be difficult to eat healthy. Good job keeping up with it Joseph!

That's almost always my response too, haha. I usually give up on my healthy eating on days like that. D: ...also, totally did not know E.L. Fudge cookies were still around! Ooh.

Good luck with your papers Yosi!

Yeah, I tend to react this way whenever I paper-write too; though I am doing better than I did last semester, where I just remember one day where I ate an entire full-size bag of Cheetos and a 1-lb. package of Twizzlers during an especially high-tension paper day. (Look, carbs = energy, and I needed energy that day!) At least I haven't gone THAT off the rails today. XD

And thanks! Here's crossing my fingers and hoping that for once I won't have to take an incomplete on a seminar paper! :D

When I'm in work mode, I'm the opposite, I just don't eat. And if it's a huge paper that I'm finishing, it's typical for me to just skip meals entirely and then gorge in between writing sessions. I probably would eat a lot if I kept snacks around the house, but in general I don't buy "snack" foods. So instead, I drink insane quantities of coffee or diet coke, not so much because I need the caffeine (I'm basically immune to caffeine now) but that consuming beverages helps stave off any hunger pangs I feel. It has gotten better lately, when I realized that a protein shake or a smoothie could satiate my body and actually provide needed calories, without the need to physically sit down and eat a meal.

Well, when I'm in SERIOUS paper-writing mode (like, we're talking when it's the night before it's due and I have a shitload of work yet to do), I'm the same way; occasionally I've gone an entire day overcaffeinated, without eating anything or even drinking much, in my frantic efforts to get things done. I try to avoid that when at all possible, though, because it's really bad for me and I end up feeling like complete and utter crap all day until I can come home and go to bed. D:
