Man, I ordered the soundtrack to the 1974 Beowulf musical for my Beowulf class presentation - looking at "modern appropriations" of the story - and MY GOD BUT IT IS HILARIOUS. It's totally got the whole '70s rock musical thing going on, and it basically ends up sounding like the medieval Danish version of Jesus Christ Superstar. In a word, AWESOME. XD

I'll see if I can upload some/all of it in a couple of days. Why should I be the only one to enjoy the dated synthesizer music and the often inane lyrics? Or songs with titles like "I Must Break Your Grip" or "So You're...Great Beowulf"?

...It would be perfect music to go along with the Beowulf that I'm translating, except it keeps me stopping every so often to laugh almost until I cry at something. (Like the opening to "Woe! Woe!", which is - you guessed it - some deep-voiced guy singing "WOOOOOOOOOE! WOOOOOOOOOE!")

Speaking of musicals, have some Shoggoth on the Roof (from

vaulted_eel). I guess ALL musicals are better with tentacles.

Edit: OH GOD THE FALSETTO IN SOME OF THESE SONGS IS KILLING ME DEAD. AND THE BOW-CHICKA-BOW-WOW.
