Ow, I am sore as a mofo this evening.
iowayehudit and I went over today to help
lordtravis and
teachingmusic move into their new house in West Liberty (Jess' sister and brother-in-law were in town to help move as well), and after loading everything up at the apartment and unloading everything at the house, all of us were hella achey. So Judith and I headed to our respective homes, showered (I also had a nice nap), then went back over a few hours later for margaritas and grilled brats and Hebrew National hot dogs.
Their new house is really nice, though; a big deck, large front and back yards (with a crapload of gorgeous daylilies in bloom), three bedrooms (so they're converting two of them into separate studies/hobby rooms), and a bay window. The only really weird thing really is the fact that the central thoroughfare on the first floor is the bathroom, which has doors to (what is now) the master bedroom, the kitchen, and the room immediately as you enter. Also, the door in there is also the only way to access the basement, oddly enough. (Still, at home our downstairs bathroom has two doors, so I wasn't too hugely surprised at that.) And the house seems to be in pretty good shape, aside from some minor cosmetic flaws on the outside (and even those, except for some iffy spots on the roof, are nothing a good wash/repaint wouldn't fix).
Anyway, all of us chatted for a while during and after supper until we had an ice cream craving (triggered by a tease of an ice cream truck that drove by but didn't turn out onto their street) and decided to embark on a late-night expedition out to West Liberty's thriving(okay not really) three-block downtown to look for some. Of course, when we realized that everything there was closed, we had most of a mile to go to get to any place that had ice cream (a place that turned out to be actually only about four blocks from their house).
So yeah, every part of me aches and I am going to sleep REALLY well tonight.
