Well, I am now considerably less bitchy and whiny. Sorry about inflicting that on your friends page. I will persevere through my papers, gambatte blah blah. And in two weeks it should all be over, hopefully.
And a meme from
worldserpent; basically, you post the impressions you've received from your flist of shows you've never seen but that they've talked about. They may be inaccurate (in fact, probably are), but hopefully are funny to people who do actually know the show and the fandom?
House is about a cranky mean doctor who is addicted to drugs because he hurt his leg and so he has a limp and pops Vicodin like Skittles. But more importantly, he is gay with his co-worker (I think it's his co-worker? or possibly his menial bitch assistant?), Wilson. Except that he's still not really nice to Wilson because he acts like he hates everyone but somehow fans can tell House has mad wubbles for him anyway. Also there's a girl named Cameron who is also in love with House, maybe? And the medical bits are completely ridiculous. And I guess House makes horrifically offensive but amusing remarks at the expense of his black coworker and his patients? To be honest, I'm surprised he hasn't had more malpractice suits but I guess his mean-spirited sass intimidates his patients into not suing. Maybe because he's such a lovably offensive bastard.
Battlestar Galactica is the best show ever, and has people called Cylons, many of which are apparently hot. There is a female character named Starbuck, who was originally a man (as in "she was a man in the 70s original," not as in "she's a post-op transsexual"). It's in space. I think. Possibly not. It is in the future though. Or possibly in an alternate world future. But it's futuristic.
Nana is about two girls named Nana, one of whom is Cute Nana and one of whom is Punk Nana. Cute Nana is apparently completely lesbian for Punk Nana; no word on whether it's mutual. The manga is by the woman who did Paradise Kiss, but apparently the anime doesn't suck this time around.
Mai-Hime is about lesbian schoolgirls. So is its spinoff, Mai-Otome, but I guess they're like lesbian in a different way or configuration or something?
Clover and Honey has a loli-looking girl named Hagu, but she's actually 18 and, like, a college student? I guess? Also I think there are some other characters somewhere in there.
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu has a girl named Haruhi (as you might expect from the title; however, she is nothing like Ouran High School Host Club's Haruhi, not being a lackadaisical crossdresser. I think). She is fucked-up. The first episode is like a student film and sucks. After that it gets insane and fun. Also there is some kind of special Haruhi dance that looks really stupid?
Inukami has naked men. Lots and lots of naked men.
Initial D is about cars. And brothers. Who are possibly in love with each other. Or with their cars. Or both. Anyway, they do illegal drag racing, I guess? And their cars are crappy, but it doesn't matter how crappy their cars are because of their leet driving skills. Did I mention that they're gay for each other and their cars?
Supernatural is also about brothers who are in love with each other (and possibly the older one is in love with his car too?). They run around finding paranormal phenomena because their mother was killed by something out of the X-Files. I think. But basically the show is about two hot-looking brothers who are gay for each other.
Also, people really will steal anything. (From
