It's funny how Japanese transliteration of foreign words can throw you off. For example, I was trying to translate the word リボドゥカン (ribodukan) and I wasn't having much luck. Finally I looked it up on Yahoo!Japan, and noticed a person had used it as a nickname and their email was ribaudeq@(whatever). So since that looked French, I extrapolated to "ribaudequin," popped it into Wikipedia and came up with a piece of multi-barrel artillery (which fit, since it was a gun name I was translating). But until then, I was totally thinking it was some weird derivative of riboflavin. XD

Also, I learned from jokersama today that sinus infections can spread to brains. And apparently this leads to squirty brain pus. Now I'm glad I didn't go to med school. XD

- A burning question is answered: do What Not to Wear participants actually have to throw away their clothes? The answer is kind of - they have to donate them to charity, and they can keep ones with sentimental value as long as they promise not to wear them. XD

- A funny-ass video about geeks. As a geek, I endorse this video!
- Couple finds gigantic chunk of ambergris (a.k.a. sperm whale leavings). Mmmm, ambergris. And now, of course, they're quite a bit richer. :D
- Weirdest Suikoden promo ever. (From dragonmaster_x.) RUN, LITTLE KIDS! RUN AWAY FROM THE CREEPY MAN!
- Apparently in stressful times, fewer but stronger boys are born. Not quite sure of the significance of this (though clearly the birth of women is more stable, so they've got that going for them) but it's very interesting!

Edit: And here's a survey (from rathershady) showing that, in the UK at least, the much-vaunted "gamer gender gap" is pretty much mythical. Also, apparently the majority of people in the UK play video games of some sort or other! :D

Edit 2: Also, this month supposedly work should begin on The Prestige, a Christopher Nolan film with David Bowie as Nikola Tesla. Time to reserve your tickets jokersama! >D

Also, can I just say that I wholeheartedly approve of the fact that you're now using a GIF for your icons. I had kind of gotten to the point where I was associating you with a big black square of nothingness due to your PNG icons. XD

Reminds me of the time I was trying to figure out what the name of some composer was on a Japanese website, and it turned out to be Ippolitov-Ivanov. That was a fun one :)
