Gamers is DEAD TO ME.

Okay, I'm totally through with Gamers. >F
I hadn't been entirely satisfied with their service, because it seemed that I got surly or negligent service as often as I got polite and professional service. But I just wrote that off to the fact that the store is staffed by college-age gamer boys (and though I hate to generalize, that group is not particularly known for its social skills).
But I stopped in yesterday to pick upRhapsodia Suikoden Tactics. I figured yesterday was its ship date, so it'd come either yesterday or today, right? They told me that no, it hadn't come in, to try again today. So after class this morning I stopped by and asked, and they were like "no, try again after about 1." So I went over to Taco Bell and had a nice, leisurely lunch - read the new Harry Dresden book from the library - then moseyed back over about 1:30. At this point, they proceed to tell me that it's SOLD OUT.
Me: Wait, what? Already?
Clerk: Yeah, only one copy came in and I took it. Sorry, man.
DUDE, WHAT THE FUCK. Now I can sympathize with being a Suikoden fan (though the staff at this particular store tend less to RPGs and more to Halo and fighting games), but it strikes me as being pretty unprofessional when the employees of a store get first pick over the customers. It would be one thing if I hadn't, y'know, been in twice already asking about it, and so they weren't sure it would sell anyway, but if they KNOW there's someone out there who wants it bad and they only have one copy...
Anyway, making your customers feel like second-raters = bad business practice. So I won't be going back there. Of course, that's pretty much the only video game store in town. Sam Goody has some stuff, but they tend to get things in late and slow. And there's an EBGames (I think) in the Coralville Mall, but I'd rather not take a long bus ride there and back. So it looks like it's Overstock.com for me in the foreseeable future! >_<<>
