"It's not slutty; it's...fun!"

The soft-rock station here in town is already playing Christmas carols. T_T
What happened to the good ol' days, when they waited until the day after Christmas to start? Or at least till like mid-November. Why do I get the feeling they started the day after Halloween? x_x
I have bought my bus ticket for Thanksgiving vacation - I should be getting in to KC late at night on the 19th. So, yay for being able to see everyone at home again! :D
LEAR
A regal, commanding scent, but poignant. White cedarwood, blue sage and bay leaf.
In the bottle: Smells kind of like fresh greenery.
Wet: Dear God, are there no "masculine" scents without that note that goes all cigarette-smokey on me? AUGH. Still, it's pretty faint and I'm hoping it'll go away. But aside from that, it's very herby.
Dry: Smoke has vanished completely - yay! It still smells herby - like some herb I know I know but can't identify: tansy, maybe? or fennel? I don't think either of those are right but it's something that grows in our herb garden at home I KNOW. (And it's not sage or bay leaf I'm thinking of.) Dunno if this helps, but if I had to associate it with a color, it would be a grayish blue-green.
Verdict: I like this, but I'm not sure whether I like it enough to get a 5ml yet.
TOMBSTONE
A celebration of one of the first commercially produced perfumes of America's Old West. A rugged, warm blend of vanilla, balsam and sassafras layered over Virginia cedar. (Another frimplet from
quikslvr.)
In the bottle: Butter rum, totally.
Wet: Butter rum with an undertone of smoke, but more like woodsmoke than cigarette smoke. Looking at the ingredients, the butter rum is probably the vanilla and sassafras - sniffing it more closely, it does smell kind of like root beer with a delicious warm vanilla. The smoke is probably the balsam and/or the cedar.
Dry: The butter rum fades a bit, and it mellows down so that it smells pretty much like root beer and vanilla (root beer float!), with a faint wood undertone. Then the sassafras fades to an undertone, with the vanilla predominating.
Verdict: This is pretty nice; I really like it. In fact, I like it the longer I wear it. It kinda makes me feel like a candy-eating metrosexual cowboy. XD
DEVIL'S NIGHT
Devil’s Eve, Devil’s Night, Gate Night, Trick Night, Mischief Night; whatever your name for it might be, the chaos is still the same. Contrary to popular belief, this festival of pandemonium isn’t unique to Detroit. Falling on October 30th, it is an evening of mayhem and destruction. On the gentler side, it may be celebrated by practical jokes, an egging, Ding-Dong-Ditch, or enthusiastic TP’ing of your most hated neighbor’s trees, and on the more violent side, arson and vandalism. This is the scent of autumn night, fires in the distance, with a touch of boozy swoon, playful sugar and thuggish musk.
In the bottle: An evergreen kinda scent.
Wet: Ooh, kinda musky! Plus there's a sweet undertone and a...popcorny scent? I dunno, I'm having problems picking out individual notes, but it sure smells nice in a kinda earthy, dark way. (It smells like I imagine a voodoo ritual would.)
Dry: Not much different, really...it blends a bit better, and sweetens a bit. It's almost like a cross between Dublin and Gaueko (without the incense). Nice.
Verdict: I like this - I really do. Debating a bottle purchase eventually, but there are others I'd rather get at this point. (Like Tombstone. XD)
Let's Positive Linking!
- Visual illusions, woot! (From
surlykitty.) I especially like the "angry man, neutral woman" one.
- Tom. Katie. 'Nuff said.
- Why you should pay attention in geography class. Now I feel bad for not paying as much attention as I should in my lit theory class. WHAT IF LITERARY THEORY CAN SAVE LIVES SOMEDAY? :O
Edit: While working on a Romantic Lit paper for tomorrow, I attempted to abbreviate Elizabeth Inchbald's A Simple Story until I realized what it abbreviates to: ASS. XDDDDD
Edit 2: This is a must-see for all Keroro Gunsou fans, and really even if you're not one it'll be funny. (It's based on the first opening credits of that series.)
