When I was watching the Fruits Basket DVD extras today, there was an interview with Aya Hisakawa (the voice of Yuki). She mentioned that she'd worked with "Okki" (Ryotaro Okiayu, who voiced Shigure) before, on his first project. I totally didn't make the connection until I was playing the Marmalade Boy end credits to hear the song "Yoake no Etude," and lo and behold but who was on the credits but Aya Hisakawa as Arimi Suzuki (one of the major secondary characters)! Of course, Ryotaro Okiayu voiced Yuu, the male lead in the series - it was his first major role, I think, and I totally didn't connect this to the earlier interview until just now.

...it's kinda pathetic how little it takes to get me excited. XD

Completely unrelated to that, I kind of feel like making myself over wardrobe-wise. I'm kind of tired of wearing a T-shirt and jeans every day - while it definitely has its good points (comfortable, practical, easy to pick out clothes in the morning), I always feel kind of like a slob when I do so. And especially since I'm in grad school, and I'll be starting to teach next year, I'd kinda like to start dressing "like a grownup." XD

...you know, I don't think it's quite penetrated that I'll be teaching next year. Ye gods and little fishes, who would entrust their children's warpable little undergrad minds to me? >D

- The latest on the quake in Pakistan. Pretty devastating stuff...I wish it were getting a little more coverage, but apparently for third-world misery to penetrate the American psyche it has to be on a scale of the tsunami from earlier this year. >_<
- Bwahaha, "shape enhancer" underwear. Read: padded crotch and/or butt. To be honest, I don't really understand it - if you care what someone seeing you in your underwear thinks, you're probably hoping to end up with them sans underwear, so the jig'll be up eventually. XD
- For those of you with Nintendo DSes (lucky bastards), apparently they're releasing a Gyakuten Saiban remake (a.k.a. lawyer videogame) in the U.S. finally, as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

Funnily enough, it's a very Capcom character design (which means he looks like he should be laying a Lawyer Smackdown in the latest Street Fighter game).

Sadly, I'm betting there's no BL subplot in Phoenix Wright. :(

Aya Hisakawa's one of my favorite seiyuu. And the male enhancement underwear thing is too funny. It's begging for a snarky comment, but my brain's not working.

Oddly enough, though she's in a lot of series that I love, her characters I can pretty much always take or leave. (E.g., though Arimi's not a bad person, and actually gets fairly likeable by the end of the series, she spends too much time as a needy bitch for me to really like her.) Yuki's actually the only one who I particularly like, and that might be spillover from the fact that I ADORE every other character on the show (Tohru, Kyo, Shigure, Momiji, Hatsuharu, etc.). Oh, and I think Skuld's OK too.

Still, she seems like a really cool person and quite funny and articulate (and she likes to garden!), so I'm hoping she'll get to play a role that I really love sometime soon.

Yes, let's! When are you going back to CO (if you are) for Thanksgiving? 'Cause I get the entire week off (yay!), so I'll probably be coming down sometime the weekend before.

Actually I am not going back to CO for thanksgiving. I am going to be heading to Springfield with the missus. I don't know exactly what days we will be gone for but we should be in KC for at least some of the week.
