gogmagog: The Fourth Doctor from Doctor Who (bitch please)

A couple of weekends ago, when [livejournal.com profile] rathershady and [livejournal.com profile] courters28 were up for a visit, we noticed a lone flip-flop on the sidewalk near my apartment building. We mused over its reason for being there, and I mentioned that very little stuff like that surprised me, because that sort of stuff was not at all unusual.

Something finally did manage to surprise me this weekend, though. I was going downtown for something or other and, as I crossed over the little streamlet of the Iowa River that runs by my house, I looked down at it, hoping to see a muskrat or a duck or something fun.

Half-submerged in the stream was...a riding mower.

The next day, when I looked for it again, it was gone.

(Incidentally, the flip-flop is still there.)

Anyway, I just had a very enjoyable afternoon. I got some lunch at the Hamburg Inn No. 2 (apparently a.k.a. "The Burg") because I was craving a shake (and as good as Whitey's "shakes" are, in consistency they're more like soft-serve than shakes). Then I sauntered down Linn Street, checking out random stores. I got a membership at That's Rentertainment (I rented Kinsey, which I'm hoping will be good), I checked out All Fired Up (a paint-your-own-pottery place not unlike KC's Ceramic Cafe), and browsed around in a used bookstore and an art gallery. At the bookstore I picked up what seems to be a 1902 edition of Dickens' A Children's History of England because it was old-looking and pretty, and because I figure there's gotta be something academic I can do with it. XD

I've also been playing more Tales of Symphonia. So far I'm loving everything about it...except the plot, which is seeming to turn out like a lame Final Fantasy X ripoff. (Girl goes on pilgrimage to talk to elemental spirits in order to save the world; she and most of her companions know DEATH AWAITS HER at the end but she won't tell the main character who she has a crush on.) I have faith that the plot will get less derivative as time goes on, though, right? Right?

Edited for added GIP-ness. Also, Nicolas Cage names son after Superman. This is why I hate Nicolas Cage.

When I read the headline, I at first thought that meant he named the kid Clark Kent Cage. That would have been bad enough, but NO. He named the kid frickin' Kal-El Coppola Cage. DUDE WTF

Edited again because apparently my GIP didn't GIP. :(

I think it's the same flip-flop...I looked for it once in the meantime and didn't see it, but I saw it again yesterday, so either it got picked up and then someone else lost one in the exact same place, or it's the same one. XD

Did you like it? Isn't it a great game? :D
