Welp, things're looking up a bit. We got my parents' car back yesterday, and aside from a brief scare with it today (which was taken care of, but ate up most of the afternoon, meaning no DMV trip yet) it's been fine. My truck, on the other hand, is going to be about $1350 to fix (ouch). On the plus side, no more cars have died - yay!

It's also been kind of nice to spend some extra time with various of my friends here before I go. I spent yesterday evening with Victoria and Jill from the WC and their respective dates, and the evening before I spent with rathershady and courters28.

Anyway, my current schedule, assuming my truck is done this week:
tomorrow: get driver's license
Friday: practice suburban/highway driving
Saturday: practice highway driving alone by going to my baby brother's birthday party in the wilds of Independence
Sunday: go up to Iowa, me in the truck and my parents in a rental car
Monday: get settled in
Tuesday: my parents drive back

Sans truck, things'll go the exact same except that I'll just ride up with my parents (and concurrently will take much less stuff up with me) and then they'll have to bring it up in a couple of weeks or so. Here's hoping the truck is done this week though. *crosses fingers, toes and eyes*

That Rare Pairing that you Love: Squall/Quistis from Final Fantasy VIII. It's not that it's THAT rare, but generally when I see it Quistis is written either as a dominatrix (um, NO) or as Rinoa Mark II (also, uh, HELL NO). Also, it's one of the rarer Squall pairings, despite the fact that Quistis' feelings for Squall are canon (at least early on).
OTP that you’d go to bat for in Wank Situation: Probably a tossup between Buffy/Spike and Angel/Cordelia. People hate them, and generally for the same reason ("OMG BUFFY/ANGEL 4EVA!!!1!"). Whereas personally, I see it as like my parents - they had so little in common it's a miracle it lasted as long as it did, and they both later found people with whom they had much more in common and with whom they were much happier.
Number One Anti-OTP, the pairing you hate with a fiery passion: Tatsuya/Maya. Though I don't really HATE it so much as I find it icky and vaguely incestuous, given her big-sister role (and dammit, Tatsuya goes much better with his psycho gay doppelganger stalker anyway!).
