Sep. 12th, 2005 04:05 pmWelp, today was kind of a wash academically. For my Romantic Lit class this morning, we had to read Northanger Abbey, Blue-Beard (a Gothic play), both versions of Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", and Coleridge's "Christabel". I got through all of it but Christabel, because I ran out of time and I'd read it and "Mariner" before (I wanted to focus on the ones that I hadn't read before). But guess what the professor decided to spend quite a bit of time talking about, followed by calling on those who hadn't contributed? So I pulled some BS out of my ass and hope that it sounded halfway intelligible (I think she bought it). Still, I worry.
On the other hand, in my Chaucer class today I was not only fully prepared, having done all the reading, but actually spoke in class! Several times! (Wooo, go me!) And the things I said were even marginally insightful! Of course, it helped that for a large portion of that time we were talking about homoerotic subtext in the Knight's Tale, because (as befitting someone who lists "literary slash" as an LJ interest) I can find gay subtext in everything from Jane Austen to Agatha Christie.
(And yes, Poirot and Hastings are totally getting it on, as distasteful as I find the concept of Poirot getting it on with ANYONE.)
( More about Radiata Stories, if I haven't bored the hell out of you yet - mild spoilers when talking about story characters )
Let's Positive Linking!
- You can't catch me, I'm the Ninjabread Man! (From
shinkun.) OMG MUST GET
- Nightmare City. ...I have no words.
- I thought spending the last couple of days on GameFAQs message boards had taken away all my faith in humanity. But no, then I had to go on the IMDb message board for The Constant Gardener and read arguments about why Rachel Weisz flossed her ass with a towel in a five-second scene. XD
- Some AWESOME street art. (From
jantalaimon
firestorm717. It's not my fault, they both have Crane icons!)
- Digital Devil Saga 2 has a soundtrack as a preorder bonus. DAMN J00 ATLUS T_T
Also, a news article from here; the IMDb news rotates daily, so I'm posting a copy of the article in the cut.
