Queer eye for the Republican guy
Feb. 15th, 2004 05:34 pmI've been thinking a lot lately, on the subject of integrity. What exactly is it? My personal definition is having a definite moral code that matches your words and actions. And conversely, hypocrisy is when the moral code you profess to have doesn't match your words or actions. I think much of the problem with our country today is that we DON'T have integrity. Our collective professed ideals - which sure, IMO, are pretty good - are one thing, but what we actually say is another thing (one not so good), and what we actually DO...well, perhaps better not to get me started on that. I just wish more people would actually live their ideals, whether they match mine or not, rather than professing one thing and saying another.
And this isn't just ragging on Republicans (though much of the Republican Party completely exemplifies my definition of hypocrisy) - true integrity is rare in the Democratic Party as well. I just sort of wish we had more people in positions of power - hell, more people PERIOD - who lived with integrity.
And while I'm on the subject of politics, I've been rooting for Kerry to win for months. He's intelligent, stable, and would be the most liberal president since LBJ. Which, of course, means that the Republicans will try to paint him as a boring "teacher's pet," like they did Al Gore. ...Honestly, I don't know about anyone else, but I know I'd rather have as president someone who does their homework and pays attention to his job than some clown with the intelligence and initiative of a baked potato. I mean, think back to college - who would you rather have as leader of the free world, the student president or the slacker fratboy?
Anyway, enough with the politics. Now on to Angel's cancellation. (And speaking of hypocrisy, there's the WB asshats who decided to cancel it. GRR ARGH.) I'm devastated, but I'm pulling through. And in honor of its wonderful track record as a TV show, I feel moved to re-watch "City Of" (the series premiere). For other fans who'd like to honor it in their own way, I submit that you should visit Queer Eye for the Undead Guy.
