KILL THE STUPID PEOPLE

gogmagogOkay, what the fuck is up with so many people - including the American Diabetes Association, for God's sake - pushing gastric bypass surgery as a "cure" for type II diabetes? I mean, this is Irresponsible with a capital I. Gastric bypass surgery is quite risky, and should only be an option for those who are MORBIDLY OBESE. (And by that we're talkin', like, Roseanne in her heyday.) And as far as it being a "cure" for diabetes...you know what? Going by that same principle, death is a SURE cure for diabetes. After all, once you're dead, your blood sugar levels will NEVER SPIKE AGAIN. So what, does that mean we should be advertising euthanasia for diabetics?
Of course, in a society that sees major surgery as a solution to minor shit like crooked noses or small boobs, I suppose this isn't surprising, but STILL. And I'm totally not giving any more money to the ADA if THIS is what they're going to spend it on, pimping it in their magazine. Bleah.
Anyway, my sister got home safely (though unpleasantly - she took a long-distance bus, and let's just say she arrived home covered in vomit and leave it at that), but her baggage didn't. The bin we sent with her of nice clothes my mom gave her, and the quilt my aunt gave her, finally arrived today, but her suitcase is still MIA. Including, of course, all the presents we gave her.
The moral of this story? Buses are OMG EVIL.
...Apropos of nothing, I finally read an Amerimanga I like. I know, DAISHOKKU. I generally avoid them because I think their art is ugly (yes, I am a shallow snob who won't read "ugly" manga), but a new one called Last Hope is actually pretty good, art-wise. And while the art isn't everything (*cough*Princess Ai*cough*), its plot - while not hugely original - is no slouch either. And the characterization seems pleasant. It's a vast change from some of the crap that calls itself Amerimanga. (Well, it doesn't call itself that, but you know what I mean. And again, seeCourtney Love Mary Sue Vanity Project Princess Ai as an example.)
