Let's Positive Linking!
- A scan from a Michael Jackson shota doujinshi. Because even if he's been acquitted, nothing will stop the doujinshika! (Not worksafe.)
- Paris Hilton to "retire," presumably from her full career of slasher flicks and bimbo-out-of-water comedy series, in 2 years. I love how she talks about how "she doesn't enjoy going out anymore, it's such a pain." Uh, yeah, then you DON'T DO IT, you vapid twit.
- Adult Christianity, for your daily dose of sacre-licious goodness. (Possibly not worksafe, due to discussion of Christian BDSM and the like, and definitely not for the easily offended.) This is probably most well-known for the OC/Jesus "O come holy spurt" gay pr0n story (definitely not worksafe).
- I <3th Darth. Because we all know Darth Vader has iTunes installed inside his helmet so that he can listen to ABBA.

Also, the Suikosource forums have started discussing Rhapsodia: Suikoden Tactics. From my viewing of this, I've come to three conclusions:

1) Yuber fanboys are muy annoying.
2) A lot of people hate Suikoden IV, not for the inane ship movement system and less-than-stellar music, but because OMG THE CHARACTERS WERE LESS DEVELOPED THAN IN OTHER SUIKODENS!!1! ...Um, have these people played the original Suikoden? I mean, I love it, but characterization? Not its strong suit. Also, they hate it because OMG WHERES YUBER?, and are prepared to hate Rhapsodia for the same reason. (Did I mention Yuber fanboys are annoying?)
3) A lot of people also hate Snowe. Which is kind of understandable in a way, given that he is kind of an ass, but in the end I don't get it. Because really, even though he's such a whiny CYA failure, I don't understand why people hate him and love Jowy, given that his actions totally made more sense than Jowy's batshit insane actions during Suikoden II. x_x

Personally, my favorite is Disgaea, followed by La Pucelle and then by Phantom Brave. (I haven't gotten Phantom Kingdom yet.) I tend to favor story, which is why I liked Disgaea (whose story is kind of fluffy, but still pretty good) and La Pucelle (which has a nice beefy, though perhaps more typical RPG, story) over Phantom Kingdom (whose story underwhelmed me). Still, they're all good games, and very meaty gameplay-wise.

As for why IS was never licensed, that's kind of a tough question because there are SO MANY reasons:

1) Objectionable themes. This is probably the major reason why. Off the top of my head, you have: teens attacking their principal with weapons; a possible lesbian relationship involving one of the main characters (Yukki/Anna); a possible gay relationship involving THE main character (Tatsuya/Jun); drug use by one of the main characters; the return of Adolf Hitler and his Nazis; terrorist bombings; et cetera. Not to mention that the ending is kind of a downer.

2) Problems with localization. I believe that a lot of the time the American localization team will have some cooperation and involvement of the original developers. When they were first looking at releasing it, however, this was impossible, because the development team was already hard at work on Eternal Punishment.

3) Outdated graphics. If they'd released Innocent Sin, by the time they localized and released Eternal Punishment its graphics (with no noticeable improvement over IS) would have been considered outdated in the marketplace. (Well, even more than they already were. Though, to be fair, it's still a damn sight prettier than Dragon Warrior VII.)

[livejournal.com profile] eikitty has a good article on the problems with a domestic release kind of buried in the Oracle of Maiya FAQ - here's a direct link to it (http://yoridori.org/oracle/tsumiusa.txt).

Hm...yeah, Disgaea sounds quite interesting. I have yet to see anything of La Pucelle beyond the box, and I've never heard of the other two. Heh, if there's any RPG whose story overwhelmed me, it's probably Xenosaga/Xenogears...too much scifi jargon and religious imagery I didn't care to figure out.
