Y'know, I wish I'd had this song when I got back from England. It would have been so appropriate.

Today was gardening day - I got 60 (!) strawberry plants at Costco, and planted up a strawberry jar as well as mostly preparing a bed for strawberries in our front yard. Come June, I'm going to have fresh strawberries up the wazoo! (Not literally.)

Recently I found a really cool fanart site (for various fandoms), Petit Pois. It's got all kinds of video game works, especially Suikoden and Final Fantasy Tactics. (It's also got quite a bit of Harry Potter stuff.) It also has an interesting section on changes between the Japanese and American versions of FFT.

A few of the funnier things I found on the site:
- A Tactics Ogre mini-comic on Mildain's susceptibility to charming XD
-
A FFVIII mini-comic that made me go BWAHAHA and laugh my ass off...
- ...and its equally funny companion comic

Anyway, inspired by that site, I did some crappily drawn sketches of Maya + Suou goodness from Persona 2. Choose your flavor: uptight yet badass patissier or angstmonkey with a daddy complex.

strawberries up the wazoo! i'm curious, how do you deal with strawberry slugs? they're a huge problem for me, and i haven't quite decided what to do. having read various schools of thought (and just come up with OMG LEAVING HALF-FULL BEER CANS IN YOUR GARDEN = BAD) has only made me less decisive. i don't want to resort to using nasty chemicals, because why would i have my own garden if i didn't want to raise edible things differently (and more healthfully) than what i can buy in the store? XD but i'm at a loss what to do that would actually work effectively against the little bastards. last year, i can count on one hand the number of strawberries we actually got to eat out of my garden. ;.;

(it'd be nice to be able to make jam out of my own garden, but i don't think that's ever going to happen. XD at least i can look forward to strawberry picking with my sister's mom in June in WI for that...:9)

the asparagus should be edible this year, though! SO EXCITING! XD now if only i could find where i put my damn kale seeds, my bunny would be very happy. XD

Oddly enough, I've never had a major problem with them! It's probably because we have a lot of birds in our yard (due to planting a lot of wild bird-friendly plants), which means the slugs make tasty bird appetizers and don't have the chance to mess up our tasty berries. :D

However, though it seems to be aimed more at agribusinesses this (http://www.gov.mb.ca/agriculture/crops/insects/fad38s00.html) seems to have some good anti-slug strategies.
