gogmagog: The Fourth Doctor from Doctor Who (RAISE TEH ROOF WOOO)

Well, I've got my geology exam scheduled for tomorrow at noon. Whoopee. I suppose I'd better actually study. x_x

Tru is back! Tonight they showed two episodes back to back (in lieu of The O.C., which will return next week - sorry, [livejournal.com profile] courters28!).

The first was quite good, and a perfect lead-in to the season. Tru's father (whom we've previously learned is EVIL) has moved to town, and offers Harrison a job. Jack returns to town, and he and Tru fight to save the life of a harbor patrol officer (played by Carly Pope, a.k.a. Sam from Popular). And you know, Jason Priestley is REALLY GOOD at playing smarmy evil bastards. Seriously, throughout most of this episode I was actually yelling at the screen, "Oh my God, he's SO EVIL!" Still, it established the main points of the series for new viewers, as well as bringing back everything old viewers like about the main characters; namely,

-Tru = heroic yet vulnerable badass and hot
- Jack = SO EVIL
- Harrison = feckless yet likeable and hot

The second episode was about a psychiatrist who's killed by one of his clients, and for whose murder Jack frames Tru. It, however, was overall not so good. There were way too many TSTL (too stupid to live) moments on the parts of Tru and Davis. I mean, Tru running from the cops trying to arrest her? Davis trying to cart the victim's body out of the morgue? Tru continuing to gab to the officer even with Harrison YELLING IN HER EAR that the cops can trace cell phones? The list goes on and on, and makes what could have been an enjoyable episode much less so. (I hope they don't get the writer of this episode to do any more.)

Still, even it had its moments. Davis and the new psychiatrist's mini-flirtation is kinda cute; and Tru's new med school friends (including Janis Ian from Mean Girls!) seem pretty cool. Next week, however, looks rockin': someone's killed at Tru's birthday party and asks for her help, but she doesn't know who because the power's gone out and it's dark. So she has to find out who was killed and by whom and prevent it from happening again, while managing to thwart Jack's attempts to make sure everything repeats itself.

This makes me really pissed that they cancelled this show. Dammit, Fox, un-cancel, renew, whatever you have to do to revive it! ;_;

In less incoherent news, my parents are putting together a graduation party for me. (By the way, [livejournal.com profile] courters28, are you going to walk? And if so, do you and/or [livejournal.com profile] rathershady want to be in on it, or have you guys got your own party planned?) We're looking at doing a big lunch at Governor Stumpy's before the graduation ceremony, which sounds pretty cool. They may even have their famous lemon cake!

Finally, a random note: if any of you haven't checked out Diesel Sweeties, you should now. (Yeah, I know I've been in a big webcomic-pimping mode right now - I don't know why. Maybe because reading through the archives of a comic keep me from working on my honors thesis for another day or two.)

I spent most of my time yelling "Go away 2x4!" Though it would be pretty neat if Tru did cause some great Cosmic Fuck Up like he keeps telling her about.

>>There were way too many TSTL (too stupid to live) moments on the parts of Tru and Davis.

You mean like the whole part where she supposedly managed to shoot the man in the back when she was facing his frontside the whole time?

Or the fact that she didn't have time to ditch the gun between the time he was shot and the time he the cops arrested her and people started swarming?

Well, those were "too stupid to believe" moments, which are entirely different but no less annoying. XD

No, I'm not going to walk - but I'd be happy to participate in the festivities. I am going to dinner (or a dinner like event) with Vinnie and his family, so as long as it doesn't clash, I would love to celebrate your graduation and move to Iowa. :)
