gogmagogSadly, when I saw the headline for this article, all I could think of was "Pachinko Silver." It's now been proved by word association: I am an ATLUS h0. (As if that came as a surprise to anyone.)
While on the subject of health, most people are surprised to learn that I can't eat, or at least am strongly advised against eating, most fruits and vegetables (and almost all fresh ones) as well as most high-fiber foods - because I have ulcerative colitis. It causes my colon to go all icky and internal bleeding to start. (And to give you an idea of how bad it can get, the first big outbreak of UC I had, I lost 50 pounds in a month and a half because I couldn't keep anything down.)
So that basically leaves fatty foods and high-carb foods. Since I have a family history of both diabetes (exacerbated by a high-carbohydrate diet) and high blood pressure/heart attacks (exacerbated by a high-fat and cholesterol diet), that means I have a few choices...
a) eating healthy and having my colon turn itself into raw hamburger
b) eat fatty and keel over from a stroke or heart attack
c) eat high-carb and go blind, have limbs amputated and eventually die from heart attack (oh, and the kidneys may give somewhere along the way too, I think)
Oh, and let's not forget the problems caused by the medicines I'm taking to keep the other illnesses in check - after all, we can't leave out the possible liver failure caused by my UC medication.
With all this, you'd think that I wouldn't expect to live to a ripe old age, but what can I say...I'm an optimist. XD
