I wasn't thrilled with the first episode, but mostly just because it was very "let's see what's changed since the finale and set up for the new season"...I thought this week's was much better.
I guess I'm not too sad about them not showing a few of the first season cast, just because nearly everyone I want to show up so far has (basically, everyone except Sylar; not a huge fan of Niki/D.L./Micah, so while I won't be sad when they come on I don't really miss them, y'know?). I wouldn't mind them giving Nathan a bit more time, but hopefully that will happen soon enough. And I hear Sylar is showing up in the next episode, and Veronica Mars should be showing up soon too. :D
Also, I think really the only new heroes they've introduced are Maya/Alejandro, Takezo Kensei (who does at least seem relevant to the plot), and Claire's not-boyfriend? So that's not TOO bad, especially since they brought back not only everyone who survived last season (except Niki's family) AND brought back the Haitian.
