Baking and BPAL

I need to work on cutting down my BPAL backlog...so, review time!
MARCH HARE
A twisted teatime tart: apricot and sweet clove.
In the bottle: Apricot.
Wet: Mmm, that's nice. Mellow and fruity. I don't even like apricot and I really like this scent - the clove makes the apricot less cloying.
Dry: Pretty much the same, a bit warmer and clovier. It kind of reminds me of the way my aunt's house smells; I think it's the apricot.
Verdict: Not bad at all! This'll go on my "maybe I should get a bottle one of these days when I have lots of money" list. No rush though.
AUREUS
True, perfect golden light, refined into an incomparably glorious scent.
...you know, sometimes I wish the BPAL reviews weren't so pretentiously gothy, because that tells you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the scent. >_<
In the bottle: Grass and smoke.
Wet: Pretty much the same...I think it may be primarily tobacco. When I sniff my arm it makes me cough.
Dry: No change at all except that it's faded a lot and no longer makes me cough.
Verdict: Blech, to the swap pile.
DRAGON'S HEART
A scent pulsing with vitality, warmth and insurmountable strength: dragon's blood resin, red and black musks, a throb of fig and a sliver of black currant.
In the bottle: Musky.
Wet: The sweet fruitiness of dragon's blood combined with...a kind of musky minty scent? (That's the two kinds of musks, I'm betting.) Not getting the fig or blackcurrant at all. D:
Dry: It gets more minty than musky, but still kind of meh for me.
Verdict: Ehhh, I'll swap it.
KUANG SHI
Bust out the dzang dzi! This scent honors the zombies of Chinese lore. Mandarin orange, white musk, mango, and white sandalwood.
In the bottle: Some kind of candy scent that I don't recognize but that's very very familiar.
Wet: That same kind of candyish scent - some kind of orangey hard candy, I think? - with minty undertones.
Dry: It all blends together into a very nice scent. (Why does everything with white musk smell so awesome?) However, it also fades ridiculously fast - seriously, after like ten minutes you can smell NOTHING. It has even less lasting power than, like, Sudha Segara. D:
Verdict: Very nice, but if I want to smell it for more than ten minutes I'd have to slather it on. I'll probably use my imp up relatively fast, but then I'm not sure I'll get more.
In other news, tonight I baked three loaves of challah and half a dozen bagels. You can tell I'm hitting that busy time, because baking is one of my preferred procrastinations from schoolwork. Because who can fault you for procrastinating when the end result is tasty treats? :9

Ahhh, sloth. I've been meaning to do something about that tendency one of these days, but you know I really can't be bothered. XD
Let's Positive Linking!
- So this is what Homeland Security is devoting their resources to. And this. Nice to know our government is watching out for us so...thoroughly. >_<
- Haha, what a great newspaper error. Apparently there's a student newspaper even worse than the U-News! XD
- British atheist looks at Colorado Springs megachurch. I do agree with the original poster that the British guy is just dripping with audible scorn, and actually gets kinda heated (though I imagine if you're a British person unused to wacky American fundamentalism, you might get kind of exasperated in a "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU SO STUPID" way). Sadly, the pastor does have a point in that the British guy totally does come off as arrogant (even though he's right). On the other hand, AUGH but said pastor is creepy and smarmy - and also apparently ill-informed as to what the Nuremberg trials actually were. XD
- Man, the day I win the lottery I'm totally going to buy a house just so I can build one of these. Of course, I suppose I'd actually have to PLAY the lottery first. XD
- Haha, this completely not worksafe music video is amusing! It's especially amusing given the production of Love's Labors Lost that I recently saw was set in the same time period, so now I'm imagining the King of Navarre asking the Princess of France whether she takes it up the ass. XD
- Apparently aliens are stealing schoolgirls' slippers. God, I love the Japanese (in general, and Mainichi Wai Wai in particular). What would we do for fubar without them?
- JOJO + STAR WARS FOR THE WIN. :D :D :D
- This is SO HOW IT IS. (From
firestorm717.) Which reminds me, I need to do my taxes and FAFSA this week. D:
- Apparently the reputed Shakespeare death mask may in fact be genuine. (From
rathershady.) They still seem pretty unsure about it though.
- For animal lovers (or haters), 50 Animals in Casts. (From
surlykitty.) SO CUTE BUT SO SAD ;_;
