Augh, I have to go see Love's Labor's Lost this weekend (since its last performance is tomorrow), but it's all the way over at Hancher and walking there today would make me quite possibly want to kill myself (on the other hand, as bitterly cold as it is right now - according to Weather.com, it's 2 degrees but feels like negative 15 - I might not need to bother, since I'd probably freeze into a popsicle on the way). And unfortunately I can't figure out how I'd get to Hancher on the vastly reduced weekend Cambus and IC bus routes. >_<
...maybe I'll try tomorrow. It'll be a little sunnier then, I think - we're supposed to get all the way up to a balmy 22 degrees (not counting wind chill)! That's practically summer! >_<
Let's Positive Linking!
- Cat Drums Baby Head. Exactly as it sounds.
- Horrible advice for high school students. Now, I don't like math. (I'm OK at it, but I find it not particularly enjoyable.) I am an English Ph.D. student. However, even I will cheerfully cop to the fact that a) basic algebra CAN come in useful in daily life (and has in mine), and b) higher math in general can be incredibly useful - necessary, even - in a LOT of careers. But
jokersama has basically already expressed my opinion much more articulately, so I'll point y'all over to her.
- It's Speedycat! A cute peppy Flash video based on a 4chan meme. Be sure to click on the moon once it starts repeating! ZOOOOM
Edit: The original article on the algebra fiasco is here, where the guy argues that anything beyond basic arithmetic (apparently not even including percentages) is not needed in daily life. >_
