Two new pieces of fanart, both for SuikoIV! Kika and Aldo/Ted.
You know, I've found that most people who will get on you for using "retarded" as a negative term have no problem using "blind," "deaf" or "insane" as pejoratives.
...Pot, this is Kettle. Hi. You're both black. >_<
In fact, I think disability has had way too much euphemism springing up about it, not unlike the funeral business. Like, for example: people aren't disabled, they're "differently abled." Which...no, not for all of them. Daredevil is differently abled. A kid who can't tie his shoes but can recite pi to the umpty-billionth place is differently abled. Even a blind person is arguably differently abled, since their other senses supposedly sharpen to compensate (not like Daredevil, though). But someone who's lost the use of their legs, or something like that, is basically just someone with ability in the normal human range, and below that range with regards to their disability, which seems to me not differently abled, but just plain disabled.
Of course, the disabled community might not be so quick to embrace half-assed euphemisms if so many people didn't act like morons towards them. Seriously, I've seen people talk more slowly and carefully to a person in a wheelchair - and we're talking from an accident, not some degenerative brain disease or something. And I'm like, "HELLO, their legs may be fucked, BUT THEIR BRAIN WORKS JUST FINE. YOU CAN TALK NORMALLY."
