"Your ass is mine!" HEE HEE HEE
Apr. 30th, 2005 09:44 pmIs it wrong that in Digital Devil Saga, when Heat says "Your ass is mine!" at the beginning of battle, I immediately take it in the dirtiest possible way? Is it also wrong that I can so easily picture Heat/Serph slash featuring bloodplay? Because if that's wrong, I don't want to be right.
All right, it's time for SUPER FUN EXCITING WEEKEND RECAP. On Thursday my boss Jill took all of us student employees at the Women's Center (me,
rathershady,
courters28, Victoria and Janie) out for our end-of-the-year lunch, which was at this cool Italian buffet restaurant called Cinzetti's at 91st and Metcalf. To be honest, I'd never heard of an Italian buffet before, and so I was a little leery of the idea. However, it turned out to be really good. Correction, make that REALLY good. And while it's apparently assrapingly expensive for supper, at lunch it's not that bad - about $8/person. Their spaghetti is dynamite, and their desserts are really good too...I'm definitely planning on going back.
That evening, all of the aforementioned (plus our outreach representative, Maria, and our graduate intern Lisa) met at Lisa's house for drinks. Lisa's friend Mary was also there. It was pretty fun, and we had some fun chats (about such diverse topics as tornadoes and the ramifications of eye herpes) before we all drifted off to our separate homes. The following morning (Friday) I brought New York Deli bagels in to the office in order to soak up the alcohol. (I'd actually promised my homemade bagels, but those will have to wait till Monday because I didn't have time Thursday night before the get-together - fortunately, I have a new stove now that actually works!)
Today I gave my mom her early Mother's Day present (since on actual Mother's Day, next Sunday, we'll be on my graduation trip to Texas with my older brother). I took her and my stepdad to Aida (the Elton John and Tim Rice version), which is currently playing at the Music Hall. She'd seen the original cast on Broadway twice when she was at Beijing Plus Five - once the day before it opened, then again several months later - and she'd been raving about it ever since, so I was looking forward to it. (I'd already heard the soundtrack and liked it.)

So, to all you KC folks, if you get a chance you should go see it - I highly recommend it. It's going for another few days, and you can pick up tickets at TicketMaster if they haven't sold out.
At supper today I was talking with my parents about all the plays I've been to. I should probably write about some of the interesting highlights of my theatregoing history, like the production of Romeo and Juliet with seven Romeos and seven Juliets wearing bald caps; the Midsummer Night's Dream that nearly drove the audience into coughing fits due to overuse of a smoke machine and lack of A/C; the puppet rendition of an ancient Greek tragedy by a famed classical scholar; my mom taking me to Carmen and Man of La Mancha when I was in kindergarten (and, miracle of miracles, I actually still remember both shows pretty clearly); going to see an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING production of Wit at the Unicorn; and a lot of others. (That's the blessing and the curse of having a stepdad who got his Ph.D. in Theatre and Film.)
Also, I added my transcription of Louise's diary to my thesis, as recommended by my professor, and now it's gone from 21 to 73 pages. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. :D
(I still need to get the paper itself to at least 30 pages, though. *grumble*)
