I've been really out of it today. I keep bumping my head/elbow/various body parts against various sharp/solid objects, I somehow got mud all over my pantlegs even though I was nowhere near any mud today, and to top it all off I managed to stab my thumb with a blunt-tipped gel pen - so hard that it BLED. I pride myself that that takes a particular kind of special person to do that.
Saw the new Stepford Wives for Feminist Film Night this evening. It saddens me that the voice of Miss Piggy, a feminist icon, can make such an anti-feminist film. Seriously, it's horrifically anti-feminist but sugarcoated with humor to make it more palatable, and it completely twists the original's message in the name of "humor." At least Bette Midler was funny, and it was nice to see Faith Hill in a cameo. (And while Glenn Close's role was highly problematic, at least she had fun with it.) Ah well, at least I finished another V-Day scarf during the movie. It's really nice, made from thick navy chenille so it's very velvety and wonderful. Now I'll be starting a fun furry red scarf - you know, made with one of those yarns that knits up looking like you skinned a Muppet to make your scarf.
Edit: It's odd...Last.FM just played "Without You" by Marika Matsumoto (a.k.a. Rikku from Final Fantasy X-2; it's actually the character's image song), and then immediately followed it up with "Without You" by Mariah Carey. Different songs, same title. Hmmm, there seems to be a theme going here. If they play 3 Doors Down's "Here Without You" next, I'll know they're sending me some kind of coded message. XD
