Nonplatonic
Oct. 21st, 2004 04:37 pmI know I'm a little late with this, but I love Jon Stewart. I would so marry him if it weren't illegal in Missouri. (Jon, if you're reading this, let's elope to Massachussetts!)
Unfortunately, I haven't had much of a chance to play any Nocturne this week, due to having something (a paper to work on, a class, an event for work) every night. This night I should have some free time though, assuming I can avoid wasting it on FameTracker.
The event last night for work featured Michael Wilke of the Commercial Closet. His presentation was on the use of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender images in advertising, either positively or negatively, to sell products, and how this affects society. The video part of his presentation was actually quite well done, but I wasn't too impressed with the guy himself. For someone who supposedly gives this presentation frequently to advertising execs and such, he seemed pretty unprofessional - stumbling over his words, losing his place in his notes, and shilling for donations for his organization about five times in two hours. (Not to mention the fact that he was less than progressive in his views of women - for example, in his video the "sissy" and "leathermen" stereotypes of gay men were considered negative, but the "lipstick lesbian" was not. *cough*Hypocrite*cough*) Still, I suppose it could have been worse. And there was decent fruit punch to drink, which always makes everything better.
I suppose I'd better get back to my Schopenhauer. (I was taking a break, because I can't read too much of him without wanting to slit my wrists. Seriously, the guy was in need of some Prozac.) But before I do, let's positive linking!
- The inimitable Wing Chun of TWoP weighs in on the aforementioned Jon Stewart/Tucker Carlson bitchfight
- Wal-Mart bans Jon Stewart's new book for indecency
- Republican stealing campaign signs falls, knocks self out
- Court rules that whales, porpoises and dolphins cannot sue Bush
Edit: Joss Whedon and Kerry/Edwards join forces. Awww, YEAH. XD
( And the handwriting meme )
