Sucky and not-so-sucky
Oct. 1st, 2004 01:01 pmWelp, my sister called last night after going to the oncologist. Apparently there's a tumor in each ovary, so they're gonna be doing a full hysterectomy as well as taking out the layer of fat right above the intestines (apparently cancer can easily spread to it). She's gonna be in the hospital for four days or so, and then she's gonna be longer recovering afterwards, so my mom is gonna go down to Phoenix to be with her during all this. On the plus side, my uncle Tom's stem cells were a perfect match for my Uncle Slip, so they'll be able to do the stem cell transplant or whatever for his leukemia. So later this month he's going up to Omaha to have it done. I hope everything turns out well there.
In the less sucky but still not exactly fun category, I have class all weekend at the Watkins Woolen Mill, which while cool is an hour's drive away and I have to be there at 8:30 a.m. So no sleeping in this weekend. ;_;
And speaking of sucky, there's more stuff up on deviantArt. (Well, OK, "stuff" singular - a picture of Chibi Jun from Persona 2: Innocent Sin.)
My current project that I'm working on (preview here) is a picture of Huck Finn and Jim going down the Mississippi on a raft. Now be aware that this is not because I'm one of these "OMG HUCK FINN IS TEH BEST BOOK EVAR!!!1!" people - I'm manifestly not - but because in my Environmental Science class the professor kept talking about the Mississippi River and before I knew it I'd doodled a halfway decent Huck on my notebook paper. It seemed like a waste not to do anything with it, but doing this much took, like, four hours and I still haven't done Jim, the raft, or the background. x_x
Anyway, I was trying to go for a "feral bishounen" look for Huck - I hope I pulled it off.
