Rinhoa must DIE.

Phantom Brave still hasn't come. Which means it won't come until Tuesday, which means I won't get to play it until Wednesday evening. 3-day shipping, my ass. In fact, I'm going to cancel my online preorder for Nocturne and switch it to my brick-and-mortar GameStop. Anyway, still playing FFVIII - just finished getting cockslapped by that bigass chunk of exposition at Trabia Garden. And you know, every once in a while a moment will come along where I think to myself, "You know, maybe Rinoa's not so bad after all." Then she immediately does something so boneheaded and/or bitchy that I find myself wanting to kill her slowly and painfully. In other news, though, Irvine and Selphie are the cutest couple EVAR. I'm also convinced that Squeenix HQ has a secret hidden version of FFVIII in their vaults, in which Discs 3 and 4 made sense - i.e., Squall continued treating Rinoa like something he scraped off his shoe and insteadgot hot for teacher hooked up with Quistis.
I also finished Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner series (well, the series to date). I really really liked all three books, though the third one made me cringe a little at times. It's a tragedy that such a well-written book with such sympathetic characters still pulls out all the hoary bad slashfic tropes: anal soulbonding, for one (only it's called "talimenios"), and if the prophecy in Book 3 (something about "fathering a child by no woman") means we're going to get Seregil/Alec mpreg, please KILL ME NOW, WTF. Still, I think Seregil and Alec are a cute couple, and I like the world that Flewelling's created (which we find out more about in the Bone Doll series).
