Aug. 13th, 2004 11:10 amWell, I looked around for cases that would be good for the videogame emulator set-top box I discussed in my last post. Being a relative newbie, I figured I needed to check out what cases are available.
I found a whole bunch of info on case modding, which can lead to incredibly cool results (see the 50s-style aluminum case, or the case with a fish tank inside, for example). And this guy seems to specialize in making computer cases from seriously bizarre objects (a guitar? a training potty?), which is also cool, but not what I'm looking for.
Then I hit the jackpot (or at least a mini-jackpot). FrozenCPU has quite a few cases that are what I'm looking for, specifically those by CoolerMaster and SilverStone. The site also has stuff to mod your PS2 with a clear, transparent blue or transparent yellow case, and it has the coolest gaming PC cases EVAR. I never even knew they had stuff like this. :D
Anyway, at this point I'm currently favoring the SilverStone Black Lascala SST-LC02 case. It just has room for a slim CD/DVD-ROM drive and a hard drive, but I think that's all I'd want to put in my box anyway. It's relatively small (15"w x 4"h x 11.5"d) and looks pretty good in general.
(This is all still just theoretical, though.)
