Celebrated the first night of Hanukkah this evening with my folks. (My stepdad's Jewish.) It was a bit unconventional - the "bread" was break-and-bake chocolate chip cookies I made this afternoon, and the "fruit of the vine" was Diet 7-Up - but it's the thought that counts, right? And I remembered all the words to both the "asher kid'shanu" and the "boray peri hagafen," despite having not used them in about two years - though I did forget exactly how the "motzi" went.
(Note that all Hebrew spelling in this entry is semi-phonetic and probably completely wrong.)
And before that, we went to Torre's for dinner, which has managed to dig up the funding to keep going for at least another month or so - the best Hanukkah present I could have gotten! :D :D :D
It's funny, though...now that it's that time again, I've been thinking about the past year, and God, what a lot of bad crap has gone down. (My dad dying, my mom's constant ill health, money troubles, etc.) But I have a distinct feeling that next year's going to be better.
...Hell, it's GOT to be.
