Scorcese will have to make another truly great movie if he wants to win. His best work(Raging Bull, Last Temptation) was overlooked, and now he just keeps pumping out drivel that seems designed to do nothing but get him an award.
Remember, Kubrick died without an Oscar, and he didn't get one for his last movie simply because it was pretty awful.
