From [livejournal.com profile] dosetsu:

So,anyway, then I made a list of women who make me want to say FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME. They are far from the only women who are awesome, or the only women people need to be told to step off of, but they are the top ten I feel that way about, right now, off the top of my head.

Mine are also in no particular order. XD

1. The Countess, Gilgamesh (she will fuck your shit up)
2. Lilah, Angel (HEAD BITCH IN CHARGE, AMIRITE)
3. Emma Frost, X-Men (even getting together with Captain Dickish Cardboard hasn't filed off all her sharp edges, which is a miracle)
4. Nel Zelpher, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (I don't ship her with anyone because there isn't anyone in the series badass enough to handle her)
5. Martha Jones, Doctor Who (SERIOUSLY HOW CAN PEOPLE WATCH MARFA EPS AND NOT SEE THE AWESOME, WTF)
6. Mitsuru Kirijo, Persona 3 and Persona 3: FES (anyone who can make AKIHIKO a BOB [bend over boyfriend] has gotta be pretty badass, and you KNOW she's pegging him)
7. Lisa Lisa, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (definition of a MILF and can beat the shit out of her son and his boyfriend if she so desires)
8. Noi, Yamatonadeshiko Shichihenge/Wallflower (someone who's both pretty and popular AND quirky and nice, which is I think why some people don't like her, but srsly even though it's not fair there are a lot of good-looking, genuinely NICE people who shouldn't be disliked just because of other people's high school issues)
9. Yukako Yamagishi, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (to quote tommy february6, SAY YOU LOVE ME OR I'LL KILL YOU)
10. Veronica Mars, Veronica Mars (not arguing that she's not a bitch, but she's an awesome and almost always likeable one, so haters can shove it)

Also, I just remembered that today is the deadline for taxes...fuck, I guess I know what I'll be doing tonight then. D:

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

I take it you're a Cyclops fan? XD

I dunno, I just really don't like him very much, I'm afraid. I think Emma is way too awesome for him. D:

But then, she's really too awesome for most of the X-Guys, after all.

Not really, I just don't dislike him as much as you do. I do hate Wolverine, though, a lot. I don't think I'd mind him as much if he wasn't starring in, what, 7 monthlies (Ultimate, Astonishing, Uncanny, Solo, Origins, First Class, New Avengers) plus six thousand or so mini-series a year. I just don't the character warrants that kind of exposure at all (I am so unique among internet fandom in this regard). So I kind of like Cyclops more than I should because, c'mon, he really isn't that much less interesting than Wolvie McFucktard.

Still, Emma's definitely my favorite Marvel character (although I do think some of her costumes are a bit ridiculously empowerful).

I must say, though, she's pretty much only been really interesting since Morrison's New X-Men, and she started fucking around with Scott soon after he started writing it, I think. She was reformed in Gen X and while she had her moments, some of the writing was just really atrocious, LARRY HAMA. Anyway, she didn't even really start acting like the delightful bitch we've come to know and love until the last ten issues of that, anyway.

I agree re: Wolverine...I mean, the ol' Canucklehead is great, but does he really need to be in every Marvel comic ever released? D:

And yes, Emma's costumes do tend to be...um...strategically placed. XD

I dunno, I quite liked her even in Gen X (admittedly I didn't read past the first year or two of it) and before...the issue way back when where she bodyswitched with Storm was kind of A++++ for me. (Also Ororo + White Queen costume = HOTT, of course.) And while I like bits of Grant Morrison's run on NXM, on the whole I found it not particularly to my tastes. (But I'm really not at all a Morrison fan, so YMMV.)

I actually think I read that arc! I like how, IIRC, the X-Men basically let her go and decide to ignore her because she's done for now and isn't planning on pursuing the crazy scheme any further. Actually, it was probably a bit more complicated than that, but I am pretty sure there excuse for letting her go was pretty retarded. Also, just looking at the way she was drawn/spoke, I can't believe she's supposed to be in her late twenties/early thirties now.

[identity profile] yoshitsune.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think the main excuse was "hay, her boyfriend Shaw got struck by lightning, she's got her hands full I guess"...which is perhaps less than intelligent, given that she tries to seduce away the New Mutants a good half a dozen times not long after that. XD

And yeah, I find it hard to believe she's in her late twenties AT ALL now. Early thirties, MAYBE, although I think she's definitely closer to late thirties/early forties. Because seriously, that would make her like 18 when she's running around in her Hellfire Club bustier talking down to Kitty like she's old enough to be her mother. XD

Yea! Other people who think Scott Summers is worthless. One time someone told me he was their favorite comic book character and I nearly died. I mean what the hell does he do that's cool and not annoying? Nothing?

I didn't used to hate him, really...old-school Cyclops I found mildly admirable, in a completely boring way. But it worked for him!

But ever since they apparently decided that what he needed was to be less Boy Scouty and instead DARKER AND EDGIER - and hence they did the whole "merged with Apocalypse" thing, and then as a result he ended up acting like a dick a lot - I started to actively dislike him. Now it's to the point where I can pretty much deal with him in Astonishing X-Men (at least during Joss Whedon's run), but the rest of the time I wanna pull a Phoenix and kill him with fire. XD

Jean should fry Scott with some Phoenix-fire and then hook up with Emma, amirite y/y
