gogmagog: The Fourth Doctor from Doctor Who (oh you public menace)

god why am I so obsessed with this show

...h, holy shit, the English grad student/faculty e-mail list just sent out a call for papers for a conference on British SF and television.

THEY EXPLICITLY MENTION DOCTOR WHO

...........I, I kind of want to submit something orz

(Maybe if I make a lot of progress over spring break and come up with a good idea for a Who article, I'll submit an abstract; and I have to say, the thought of doing a Doctor Who scholarship lit review kind of makes me want to cream my pants.)

Edit: ...oh shit, you know, a paper on the implications of Who's treatment of medieval history/life (for pseudo-alien-medieval stuff like The Ribos Operation) would actually be not that irrelevant to my own CV, orz

All I can say, besides "DO IT! DO IT NOW!" is, hope you've got your scarf done by the time you're called to present your paper. >3

...oh man, that would be EPIC. Going up there in a suit, polished shoes, professional haircut, classy portfolio...and a 20-foot-long multicolored scarf. I CAN SEE IT NOW

You'd obviously have to take pictures. And/or have someone videotape the whole thing for YouTube posterity. >3

And if nothing else, the scarf would give the panel chair a useful handle to drag me offstage if I run over my allotted time! It would work like the old-fashioned cane from the Looney Tunes cartoons. XD

DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT

AND USE THE SCARF

Like I said, if I get a lot of work done on my seminar paper over break, I'll totally come up with something and send it in!

(I can't guarantee the scarf, though, I'd be afraid one of the "serious academics" would leap over the podium and strangle me with it because SERIOUS SCHOLAR ARE SERIOUS.)
