gogmagog: The Fourth Doctor from Doctor Who (Default)

"Tainted Love" wasn't much better, but STILL.

Just wondering, but does anyone else categorize movies by how much you'd be willing to pay for them on DVD? I mostly say this because last night at the mall I picked up Kingom of Heaven because I found it for $10, and I feel that it is totally a $10 movie. Something like Talladega Nights, on the other hand, is a $15 movie, while Knocked Up is a buy-brand-new, $20 one. On the other end of the spectrum, there's movies like Daredevil, which is maybe a $5 movie (which, yes, I do own). And even further than that, there's stuff like Elektra, which I looked at buying for $5 but couldn't bring myself to (I think I have to Netflix it first, I've just heard too many bad things about it). And I generally won't buy a movie until it hits the price range I'm willing to pay for it - like that Lindsay Lohan movie Just My Luck, which I really want to see because it has McFly in it, but which refuses to drop down to $5. Or The Covenant, which I can't justify paying more than $10 for, but which never seems to go for under $15.

In related news, the Chronicles of Riddick set (featuring all three Riddick movies) is now only $10 at Best Buy. I feel stupid because I paid $15, like, two weeks ago. It seems like that's always the way it is, though - you buy something and then it immediately goes on sale and you're all ARGH WHY DO THEY DO THAT. (At least if you're me.)

Also, thanks to the sinister pimping of [livejournal.com profile] jokersama, I've been watching the new Doctor Who (starting at the beginning, with Nine and Rose). God, those two are so cute together. Also PLAYING "TOXIC" AT THE END OF THE WORLD WTF

dammit but I need a Riddick "I'm going to kill you with my TEACUP" icon

I love Nine much more than Ten, but then end of S3 of New Who is so totally worthwhile. >3

I gotta admit, i do like Chris Eccleston (though my reaction watching was "ZOMG IT'S CLAUDE", which amuses me). I hope I find Tennant as entertaining!

Well...see, Tennant is entertaining but annoying at the same time. It depends on what you like in the Doctor, though. I like Eccleston's angsty Doctor a lot better, quite honestly. Plus, "lots of planets have a North." XDDD

(I must confess I might like Ten more if he'd been able to use his actual accent like Eccleston was. XD)

I can't tell you what's so awesome about S3 unless you want to be spoiled. But it made me very happy indeed, whereas I was less-than-impressed with S2. And I do love Billie Piper, so that's not the problem...to be very vague and non-spoilery, I felt the writing was just much better with S1.

Haha, see, I like cute enthusiastic tard(is) Doctor much more. So maybe I'll like Tennant more. XD

Also I know S3 has a change of companions, to Martha? Is that what you're talking about? (Despite never having watched Who before, I read all the Who wank on fandom_wank, so I know all about the Rose/Martha shipper wars and the whole "the Doctor is asexual, y'all who are seeing romance with Rose are ON CRACK, he'd sooner sex up K-9" brouhahas. XD)

Oh, no...I do like Martha, but I like Rose too. And I don't really have ships in that series, except one I won't get into here cos it'll spoil you. >3 But that's not who I'm talking about at all, oh no.

You'll see when you get there. I bet you'll see it and go "OH, THAT'S WHAT JANNI MEANT." In all likelihood. >3

Some of the ship wars are so crazy they almost put HP fandom to shame.

Almost. Well, till this past weekend, anyway. XD
