I don't think it's as good, because part of the reason the the plagiarized version is so effective is because of the sort of amateur presentation (also, pictures!). Plus, the original explained explains exactly the hell is going on. I was curious, but the explanation wasn't that interesting or all that surprising, and it definitely made things less scary.

I kept freaking the fuck out over small noises and was afraid to get out of my bed because of MONSTERS GRABBING ME or whatever. Then my roommate came in and I made an awfully embarrassing noise...
