I LOVE YOU ANONYMOUS FAN TRANSLATION PROJECT PEOPLE

HOLY CRAP PERSONA 2: INNOCENT SIN INTRO VIDEO IN ENGLISH IS OUT

(It's basically 90% of the intro.)

...Oh God, I've played through this game like twice in Japanese, and it's totally my favorite game of all time, so the idea of playing it in English kind of makes me want to cream my pants. (Persona 3 is awesome and all, but nothing compares to Tatsuya, Eikichi, Lisa and co.)

(The translation project homepage is here.)

While I like what I see and appreciate what they're doing, I can't help but find their little potshot at Oracle of Maiya more than a little unprofessional. I mean, the group did something that helped keep the fandom alive at a time when the US fate of Megami Tensei was all but doomed. I may have my differences with Puu and Kya (Although I wish I could say they were resolved by now), I have to say it is wrong to say what Gemini did on his FAQs say. If you think your product is better, say so. but don't bash your predecessors, especially when they busted their collective humps to deliver a damn good product to the masses.

I'll admit I was a bit taken aback at first; I'm still not sure what they're talking about as far as inaccuracy, but as far as incompleteness goes, when I thought about it I think that they're just talking about the fact that the Oracle of Maiya translation pretty much only covers plot dialogue for the most part; so things like store dialogue with your party members and such aren't included.

My point is that those four people worked hard on that project. They did something that in the end helped to preserve the fandom and quite possible expand it as well. To take such a shot at them is not just unprofessional, it's rude and ungrateful.
