I think Rowling even referenced fanfic when she made the comment.

My favorite response was someone on another site asked when we are going to find out the important things, like did Minister Fudge play Fantasy Quidditch, does Snape prefer boxers or briefs, or just WTF does grown up Harry Potter do for a job

Didn't she say that Harry joined the Aurors immediately after defeating Voldemort and was their head like 10 years later?
