It's sad that discovering poorly written Canterbury Tales pr0nfic horrifies but doesn't particularly surprise me. It's of the Miller's Tale, for the record. WHY, GOD, WHY? (After all, Canterbury Tales pr0n SHOULD be not only well-written, but well-written in Middle English. Just because.)
Also, I read Timon of Athens this evening instead of going to hear Noam Chomsky talk at the Englert. I have far too much to do and don't want to take the time to sit for several hours listening to random philosophy/theory (or even social welfare issues) - so yeah, Noam can bite me if he doesn't like it.
Anyway, I haven't made a musicpost in a while, and I figured while I work on my ginormous Suikoblog entry I'd do one!
The Disasters - Say Everything
The Disasters - Feel Like You're Leaving
The Disasters is a Kansas City band (I guess?). I got this on the CD of local "independent" music my parents gave me for Christmas, which at first puzzled me because I'm the farthest thing from an indie music fan ever. XD
But it's actually basically a CD of local pop/rock which is not bad, and this band (which I'd never heard of before) was my favorite of the bunch. I especially like "Say Everything."
Kishidan - Kira Kira
Kishidan - Koibito
Kishidan - One Night Carnival
For those of you who aren't familiar with Kishidan, they're a Yankee J-rock band and the best thing since sliced bread. Check out their videos on YouTube, they're awesome. XD
SOUL'd OUT - To All Tha Dreamers
One of the EDs to Yakitate! Japan (which I desperately need to watch one of these days). It's totally not my type of music - a kind of funky disco-rap - but it's peppy and fun, so I listen to it anyway. Also, when it's played at the end of Y!J it's accompanied by an afroed man in a leisure suit doing funky disco dancing. <3
Toto - Africa (Bootleg Mix)
A remix of Africa that I'd never heard until
jokersama sent it to me a while ago. I <3 Toto, so this song made me happy as a clam. :D
Yoko Ichikawa - Yoake no Etude (Etude of Dawn)
The third or fourth Marmalade Boy ED? (The last one, anyway.) I like it because it's peaceful and rhythmic and pretty and relaxing. (Also because I like Marmalade Boy.)
Let's Positive Linking!
- DUH: Design by Unintelligent Hand. I believe this theory is quite probably what we should be teaching in the schools. XD
- Remember that Britney Spears pro-life statue? Here's the back end (possibly not worksafe; from
angrybabble). My only real reaction is EW.
- Orly the Owl is officially the BEST MASCOT EVAR. (From
gedrean.) Though Yarly is pretty good too. Those wacky Nowai Canindians and their crazy naming system!
Edit: Because this Penny Arcade strips sums up my feeling about one of my classes right now. XD
Edit 2: Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou is US-bound! Woohoo!

Date: 2006-04-11 05:46 am (UTC)Eeeh! Orly the Owl XD. I can't believe they actually named it that, in a corporate workplace too.
*_* Shin Megami Tensei! *paws* I want more of that world ;_; ever since playing Persona 2.

Date: 2006-04-11 03:07 pm (UTC)And Persona 3 is hopefully coming out in the US (assuming they can slap an M rating on it to make the whole "high school kids shooting themselves in the head to summon their Personae" thing okay). :D

Date: 2006-04-11 08:09 pm (UTC)Ah, Nocturne's separate from that? I keep getting it confused with the two Digital Devil Saga games. How are they related?
XD; I missed the shooting self in head part, but yeah, the general theme of the Persona series is very dark and has lots of creepy Satanic overtones. Which is exactly why I like it *grin* What's Persona 3 supposed to be like? Any relation to 2?

Date: 2006-04-11 08:57 pm (UTC)Nocturne is part of the "main" Shin Megami Tensei series; Digital Devil Saga is, like Persona and Devil Summoner, a kind of offshoot of them using the same system and themes.
As for info on Persona 3, your best bets are here (http://www.rpgfan.com/news/2006/1129.html) and here (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/694/694490p1.html). I'm betting Minato-ku is close to Mikage-cho and Sumaru, the locations of Persona and Persona 2, and I'm also betting we'll get returning character cameos of some sort. :D
